The Sergio... and Stan Lee!

This past Sunday the CAPS Society (Comic Art Professional Society) held its annual "Sergio" award banquet, the honoree was none other than Stan Lee. We had a wonderful time and got a chance to meet Stan, really nice man. I had the privilege of sculpting the latest award designed by Sergio Aragonés. Above are some pics of the award before it was taken to the foundry to be cast in bronze, and also of the three of us, Stan, Sergio, and myself that evening courtesy of the incredible photographer David Folkman. Thanks to Chad Frye for all his hard work in making this award become a reality, Bill Morrison, Pres. of CAPS and last but not least mi amigo Sergio Aragonés. Congratulations Stan, Excelsior!

Juan Ortiz and all his wonderful blogs!

My good friend, colleague and artist extraordinare, including the publisher of Silver Comics Juan Ortiz has a great new blog called The Disney Store Shelves, a wonderful behind the scenes look at the process in making those neat Disney Merchandise items such as Snow Globes, Statues, Prints, etc... Juan is one of the head folks behind the magic, he has worked in the industry for over 22 years at all the major studios, producing some of the most memorable items around, check out his personal site here! An incredibly versatile and talented artist, Juan's range is from the cartoony to the super cool. Also check out his Silver Comics website which hosts a wonderful array of super characters. The comic is a nod to the Silver Age of Comics, the ones we grew up on. Also check out his Silver Comics Blog with the up to the minute news on the latest with Silver Comics! Good going Juan, great sites!

Tulgey Wood...

Check out the neat and eclectic postings of colleague, writer and historian Jim Fanning at Tulgey Wood. You'll find a lot of fun ranging across the board from Classic Comics, Animation Anything Disney, Movies, Nostalgia, etc... If you're like me you'll feel like a kid again, Jim's posts will bring back a lot of memories and newfound knowledge in all that is fun and collectible. Jim is also the Co-editor and staff writer of one of my favorite magazines, Sketches, dedicated to the Walt Disney Classics Collection, no other Disney magazine compares. Great blog Jim!
